Bringing queer sports to the heart of america.

Stonewall Sports took its name from the Stonewall riots of 1969. While our world has changed in many ways—we still fight the same battles for fairness, visibility, and safety in Kansas City.

They threw bricks, we throw pitches. They took to the streets, we take to the fields.

We honor their sacrifices, and continue the struggle for liberation, by offering queer people a place to find community across all identities. While fun is central to our mission, we know our role goes far beyond recreational sports. We touch thousands of lives and serve incredibly vulnerable communities. They depend on us, they look up to us, and we strive to do right by them.

  • MISSION

To provide an inclusive, low-cost, high-fun sports organization that's managed as a non-profit with a philanthropic heart.

  • VISION

We believe every person should have the ability to feel comfortable being themselves in organized sports. We will value each player for who they are and what they bring to their community. We also believe organized communities have the ability and responsibility to support others in need.

OUR CHAPTER

Stonewall Sports — Kansas City was founded in 2019 with the launch of a kickball league. Since then, we’ve expanded to over half a dozen sports—and continue to grow. We’re a branch of Stonewall Sports Inc., a national non-profit headquartered in Washington D.C. Since its founding in 2010, over 40,000 people have played with Stonewall Sports across more than 20 cities in the U.S.
